Taj's Angle

I love to look through the photos on my camera and find that Taj has snuck a few shots in here and there. I really like his pictures because you see everything from a 3-year-old's perspective. Everything must seem huge and exciting. It's no wonder I can hardly keep up with Taj as he explores the world around him!

Haiven's Stats

This picture was taken by Taj. I'm sure Brannon will love that look on his face and I'm sure that he will especially love that I posted it on the blog:)

I just realized that I forgot to post Haiven's 6 month stats. She is in the 85% percentile for her height, the 67% percentile for her weight, and her head is in the 99% percentile. So basically her head is really huge! We took her to Primary Children's to a neurosurgeon to check it out. She had a c-scan that revealed she has excess fluid around her brain, which is making her head grow large at a fast rate. Not to worry though, apparently this condition is perfectly normal and she should outgrow it by school age. We will definitely keep a close eye on her noggin just in case though. She sure does get A LOT of kisses on that big nog of hers! She is now almost 7 months, so I guess I am staying true to my nature in that I am late for almost everything. I don't think I used to be late for everything until I had kids, but on second thought, I do remember being late almost always for my early morning college classes. Geeze, I must be a major procrastinator or something and throwing kids in the mix definitely did not help this bad habit of mine, but I am giving myself brownie points for trying anyway!

Our Life Lately in Pictures

Because I am incredibly behind with my posts, I am going to do my classic go-to technique of pictures with captions. Life has been so busy right now, mostly consumed with blowing bubbles, wagon rides, riding bikes, taking walks, reading the same three books over and over again, cutting the tops of millions of "apackacicles" (popsicles), introducing the wonderful world of food to my baby Haivi, working on teething, and generally just everything a mom does. I've tried to limit my time with technology and be a more "in the moment mom" and it's really made a difference so far. I'm going to keep blogging so that I can keep our family journal current, but I don't think Facebook or Pinterest needs me so much anymore....my kids need me, technology doesn't. I can honestly say that life without technology has been a lot less stressful and I've been a lot more clear-headed and organized. As for my newfound love for Netflix, well, we can't conquer all our demons at once, can we?

Jinxed

Little Miss Haivi came wedding dress shopping last weekend and was a champ!

I think I jinxed myself telling everyone what a perfect little eater and sleeper our pretty princess was. She is still not liking her cereal or fruits or vegetables. It's more like a gag session every time I try to feed her, poor thing! I hope she acquires a taste for it soon! She is also now waking up about two or three times a night, which is more than she did as a newborn! I just keep telling myself to enjoy the moment because in a few months she will be eating and sleeping better (I hope)! She is still such a pleasant little thing though and just loves to be held and loved on, which of course is not hard for any of us to do:)

Super Hero

Not so happy to have an audience;)

Caught him in the bathroom checking his super hero look out in the mirror:)

Not only does Taj have to have his hat and boots wherever we go, he has now added work gloves and his super hero mask from McDonald's to his look. Want to know what's really fun??? Trying to leave the house without every single one of those items! I am loving this dress up stage though. I can't help but laugh every time he dons the gloves, hat, mask, and boots. I think it looks even better with shorts! I try not to let him see me laugh though because he is very serious about his look. We get comments everywhere we go up here on Taj's hat and boots. Being a cowboy is a novelty up here and Taj always brings a smile to someone's face with his cowboy attire and his bowlegged cowboy strut. Everyone always says, "Hey cowboy!" It's kind of fun spreading a little sunshine wherever we go. It reminds me of the line from the song Give Said the Little Stream, "I'm small I know, but wherever I go the grass grow greener still." Wherever Taj goes, the grass does grow greener and I hope that I can do the same and spread a little more happiness and warmth wherever I go.

Haivi

S

Little Haivi is growing up so fast! She is coming up on 6 months and I cannot believe how fast the time has gone! She continues to say "mamma" and now she even likes to snuggle a little bit on our shoulders or bury her face in our necks. She gets lots of squeezes and kisses when she does that! She is such a pleasant and easy going baby. I told Brannon that getting up in the night to feed her is not so bad because she always greets me with a big smile. She continues to roll from her back to her stomach, but still hasn't figured out how to do it the other way around. She found her feet this last week and loves to grab them when she plays on the floor. She is also reaching out and grabbing/wacking about everything she can get her little hands on. When I feed her her bottle, she likes to pull on her hair or my hair, whichever is closest. She also loves trying to grab her daddy's nose. I laugh because Taj did the same thing when he was a baby. I told Bran that he must have a big nose because why else would babies try to grab it? :) She also still gets some serious bedhead, but I'm hoping that will get better as it gets longer! She is my sweet little cupcake and we are loving every minute with her!
